Some of your frequent questions

I. RESERVATIONS

• Do I need to make my decision well in advance?
It is not easy for me to answer this question. In general, I receive the first bookings more than a year in advance, especially for large groups and high season. I respect each enquiry, I answer as soon as possible (often the same day) and anyone who has contacted me and showed a real interest in the villa Cassiopee is informed if I receive a new request for dates overlapping his or her request. The most beautiful villas are very popular and sometimes even rented from one year to another. I suggest you to contact me as soon as your dates are fixed and if they are not flexible However, before you make your decision, I invite you to check the days of the airplanes flying from your starting location to Skiathos. I can only consider that a booking is valid if I have previously received a deposit (see our “Cancellation Policy“).
• What will happen if I cancel?
My cancellation policy is clear and is usually applied for holiday home rentals, especially luxury rentals. If the cancellation occurs more than 45 days prior to arrival date, a penalty equal to the deposit is due. If the cancellation takes place during the 45 days prior to arrival, the full amount is due. However, if the house is re-rented for the cancelled period, I am committed to fully refund any amount that would have been paid me. As these are usually relatively large amounts, in order to avoid any inconvenience, I advise my tenants to subscribe for a cancellation insurance, which will protect them in case of force majeure.
II. LOCATION AND ACCESS
• Is the villa in a walking distance from the beach?

In theory, yes, since we are about 800 meters (distance by the road, as the crow flies, we are only about 400m) from the beach of Aghia Paraskevi. But do not forget that our villa is on top of a hill, the descent is a nice walk (depending on time of day, the load you want to carry and the age of the walkers), but the return can be less funny. My kids and their friends (not all very athletic teens …) walk to the beach without any problem, but will usually give us a call later in the day to see if we can go and pick them up with the car …I recall that we include in the price two cars rental for the duration of your stay. This will allow you to discover other beaches on the island, especially those which are not on the bus line (the prettiest in my opinion).

• Is there a supermarket nearby?
Yes, there are two of them: “Tassos” and “Iguana”, one about 400m away from the villa and the other along the main road. I think they are rather intended for some “light” shopping , since they do not sell everything and foremost, their prices are much higher than those of supermarkets found in town.In town, I recommend “Asteras” located at the entrance of the port, on the left, opposite the petrol station. Good products, good meat, helpful and friendly staff and fair prices (the islands are expensive and prices are sometimes higher than the ones we are used to, Skiathos is not an exception to this rule!).
• The villa is on the top of a hill. Access is easy?
People who had rented villas in the hills sometimes felt a bit afraid by finding that access to their holiday rental was a steep dirt road, not always in good condition. At villa Cassiopee, you will not have this problem: we made the choice to pave the dirt (public)road, that only leads to our property (and that why it does not interest the municipality, especially as we do not vote in Skiathos 🙂 Access is very easy in any weather and at any time of the year.
• What is the address of the villa and how do I get there?
Our villa is built out of the urban plan, which means it has no mailing address. It is not visible from the main road, or even from the property entrance. However, it is not hard to find, once someone has guided you. Upon your arrival at Skiathos, you are greeted personally by Jacques, who speaks French, English and Greek, and who will take you to the villa.
III. AMENITIES
• Is linen provided? Is it included in the rent?

Yes, of course. In Greece, unlike other countries, it is almost always the case.We offer you a set of three towels per person, which will be changed once during the week by our housekeeper, which will also clean the house (a service included in the rental price). Bed sheets will be changed too.

We provide pool towels to lighten your luggage.

You will find in the villa tablecloths and tea towels and cushions for outdoor furniture.

• Should I bring a hair dryer?
No, there is one in each bathroom (so five in total)
• Can I bring my lap top and / or my i pod?
Yes, difficult to abandon technology, even on vacation (I have teens, I know it). The villa is equipped with WIFI (home and garden) and a dock station for i-pod
• We are twelve persons. Can we all eat at the same table?
Yes. On the large covered terrace, there is a teak table, extendable for large groups, around which you can have 12 folding chairs in teak, less bulky than the wicker chairs we have, better for smaller groups. There are dishes in sufficiency in both kitchens of the house.
• Is there a washing machine?
Yes, there are two in the house, and an iron and ironing board.
• The house has air conditioning throughout it?

Very common question after the heat waves of the past two summers in Skiathos. Yes, for our own comfort and our guests’, we have installed a high-performance air conditioning by fan-coils in all the bedrooms and two lounges.

IV. SAFETY AND HEALTH
• Is the villa suitable for young children?

Yes, no problem for babies who are not walking yet: my house is also equipped with a cot and a high chair for their comfort as well as a bed with safety.

Young children who are not aware yet of the real danger, must ABSOLUTELY be under supervision: the pool is not protected and the property has some steep slopes. Be aware that it is a big property (6000m²) and it was impossible to secure every part of it. By cons, children can play safely on the large terrace of 40 square meters and on the large lawn, but under the supervision of an adult. Every year, I get bookings from families with small children, especially in the low season, I inform them in advance and I am ready to meet very specific questions. So, everybody is satisfied.

• Is smoking allowed in the house?
No. It is also our second home and we are non-smokers. We ask our guests to have the kindness of respecting our choice. Of course, smoking is allowed in the many outdoor areas (there are ashtrays in the house), but ensuring strict security: our house is surrounded by beautiful nature and no one can ignore the damage that cause each year unconscious behaviours in the Mediterranean region and the islands of the Aegean Sea!
• Can I take my dog with me?

No, we are strict on this point: no pet, whatever its size or good education, is allowed in our property.
